Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 August 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms", "ToS") carefully before using StoatBoard ("the Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Operator

StoatBoard is a personal project operated from France with no registered legal entity. For any legal matter, contact us at:

[email protected]

StoatBoard is an independent, community-driven project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected to Stoat, Revolt Platforms Ltd., or any third-party service mentioned herein.

2. Description of Service

StoatBoard is a free directory for Stoat communities and third-party bots. The Service allows users to:

  • Browse and search Stoat community servers
  • Browse, compare, review, and install listed Stoat bots
  • List and promote servers they administrate on Stoat
  • Submit bots they own for moderation and publication
  • Bump eligible server and bot listings within published cooldowns
  • Interact with the StoatBoard bot within their servers
  • Use or provide "Continue with StoatBoard", our independent community OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect service

The Service is provided free of charge and on an "as-available" basis. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without liability.

3. Eligibility and User Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • You must provide accurate, complete, and current information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • One account per person is permitted.
  • If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at [email protected].

Age self-certification: By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years old.StoatBoard has no technical means of independently verifying users' ages. If you provide false information regarding your age, StoatBoard shall bear no responsibility whatsoever for any consequences arising from such misrepresentation, and liability shall rest entirely with you or, where applicable, with your legal guardian.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

  • List or promote servers or bots that share, facilitate, or encourage illegal content or activities under French or applicable law
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to scrape, spam, or abuse the Service unless explicitly authorised (e.g., the officialStoatBoard bot)
  • Impersonate other users, server owners, bot developers, or StoatBoard
  • Manipulate, game, or circumvent the bump ranking or cooldown system
  • Upload, transmit, or link to malware or malicious content
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Post content that is defamatory, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts
  • Violate the intellectual property rights of any third party

For the full list of prohibited content types, see our Content Policy.

5. Server and Bot Listings

  • By submitting a listing, you represent and warrant that you have authority to publish it. Server publishers must be an authorised administrator; bot publishers must own the bot on the Stoat account linked to StoatBoard.
  • You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of the content you submit in your listing, including descriptions, links, tags, media, feature claims, and disclosures.
  • NSFW servers and bots must be properly marked at submission. Failure to do so may result in removal and account suspension.
  • StoatBoard reserves the right to remove, modify, or reject any listing at its sole discretion, particularly where it violates these Terms or the Content Policy.

No endorsement: The inclusion or verified-identity status of a server or bot does not constitute an endorsement, security audit, recommendation, approval, or sponsorship by StoatBoard. Listings combine public Stoat metadata with information supplied by publishers and users.

Right to refuse service: StoatBoard reserves the right to reject, remove, or restrict a server or bot listing, or deny access to a user, where reasonably necessary to operate or protect the Service, enforce these Terms, or comply with law.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Your Content

You retain full ownership of the content you submit to the Service (server or bot descriptions, names, icons, reviews, etc.). By submitting content, you grant StoatBoard a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service (e.g., showing your listing to other users and search engines).

This licence terminates when you remove your listing or delete your account, subject to a reasonable technical delay.

6.2 StoatBoard Content

The StoatBoard platform, its source code, design, branding, and all content created by us are our exclusive property (or that of our licensors) and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute them without our prior written consent.

6.3 Copyright Infringement

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, please submit a takedown request via our DMCA / Takedown Policy. We respond to valid notices promptly.

7. Hosting Provider Liability (LCEN)

StoatBoard acts as a hosting provider ("hébergeur") within the meaning of Article 6-I-2 of the French LCEN (Loi pour la Confiance dans l'Économie Numérique). We do not proactively monitor all content submitted by users. However, we will act promptly upon receiving valid notices of illegal content or copyright infringement at [email protected].

8. Third-Party Services and External Content

StoatBoard is a directory service only. We provide links and metadata about Stoat servers and third-party bots, but we do not operate those communities or bots. We do not control their content, code, permissions, data practices, availability, moderation decisions, or conduct.

Your interactions with a listed server or bot — including installing a bot, granting permissions, sending commands, or following a publisher website — are between you and the relevant operator. Review the bot publisher's documentation, privacy information, requested permissions, and support channels before installation.

The Service may also contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., Stoat.chat, external code hosting platforms). We do not endorse those websites and are not responsible for their content or practices.

9. Developer API, Continue with StoatBoard, and Companion Bot

Access to the StoatBoard developer API, Continue with StoatBoard, and official companion bot is subject to the following conditions. Continue with StoatBoard is not official Stoat OAuth and is not affiliated with Stoat:

  • Reasonable personal and commercial use is free of charge under fair-use limits, published quotas, and these anti-abuse rules. High-volume or exceptional usage requires prior agreement.
  • Integration buttons must say "Continue with StoatBoard". You may not use "Continue with Stoat" or imply that Stoat operates, endorses, verifies, or certifies the integration.
  • You must use Authorization Code with PKCE as documented, keep confidential-client credentials secure, validate protocol responses, and register only redirects you control.
  • You must never request, collect, transmit, or store a user's Stoat session token. Only claims explicitly approved through the StoatBoard consent screen may be used, for the disclosed purpose and no longer than necessary.
  • Application names, domains, logos, privacy policies, and support information must be accurate and must not impersonate another person or service. Verification status may be removed after a material change or security event.
  • Automated access to the Service (scraping, crawling, mass data extraction) is strictly prohibited without a prior written agreement. We reserve the right to take technical and legal measures against unauthorised scraping, including IP blocking and legal action under applicable law.
  • API rate limits are enforced server-side. Attempting to circumvent rate limits constitutes a violation of these Terms and may result in permanent account termination.
  • We may suspend clients, revoke credentials and tokens, or reduce limits to protect users and the Service, investigate abuse, comply with law, or enforce these Terms. Where practical, we will provide a reason and a route to contact us.

10. User Representations and Indemnification

10.1 Your Warranties

By using the Service and submitting any content, you represent and warrant that:

  • You have the full legal right, power, and authority to agree to these Terms and to submit the content you provide.
  • Your content does not infringe any intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party.
  • Your content does not violate any applicable law or regulation.
  • All information you provide is accurate and not misleading.

10.2 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StoatBoard and its operator from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:

  • Your use of or access to the Service in breach of these Terms
  • Any content you submit, post, or transmit through the Service
  • Your violation of any third party's rights
  • Any claim that your content caused damage to a third party

This indemnification obligation will survive any termination of your account or these Terms.

11. Payments, Pulse+, and Refunds

The Service offers a premium virtual currency called "Pulse+" (StoatBoard Pulse). Pulse can be purchased via our integrated third-party payment provider (Ko-fi).

  • Final Contributions: All purchases of Pulse are final and represent a contribution to support the infrastructure and development of StoatBoard.
  • No Refunds: Due to the digital and consumable nature of Pulse, and the size of our team, we do not offer refunds, exchanges, or cancellations once the Pulse has been credited to your account.
  • Virtual Currency: Pulse is a virtual utility specifically for use on StoatBoard. It has no real-world cash value, cannot be withdrawn, traded, or redeemed for fiat currency.
  • Transactional & Marketing Emails: By initiating a checkout process, you consent to receive necessary transactional emails. Furthermore, if you abandon your cart or checkout process, our payment providers may send you automated marketing or reminder emails to complete your purchase.

12. Termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we determine, in our sole discretion, that your conduct is harmful to other users, third parties, or the Service.

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.

Upon termination, Sections 6 (Intellectual Property), 10 (Indemnification), 12 (Disclaimer of Warranties), 13 (Limitation of Liability), 15 (No Professional Advice), 16 (User-Generated Content), 19 (Statute of Limitations), 21 (Governing Law), and all other provisions that by their nature should survive, will continue to apply.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Server or bot listings are accurate, complete, or up to date
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements
  • Any listed server or bot is safe, moderated, securely coded, or free from harmful content
  • The Stoat platform or any linked service will remain available

We expressly disclaim any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, StoatBoard and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of goodwill, lost profits, or business interruption — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for any and all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount paid by you to us in the 12 months prior to the claim (which, for a free service, is zero euros (€0)).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

14. Force Majeure

StoatBoard shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance of its obligations under these Terms to the extent caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, war, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemic, failure of internet infrastructure, actions of third- party service providers (including Cloudflare or the Stoat platform), cyberattacks, or any event that could not reasonably have been foreseen or prevented.

15. No Professional Advice — Use at Your Own Risk

Nothing on StoatBoard constitutes legal, financial, security, technical, or any other form of professional advice. All information, server and bot listings, descriptions, tags, and any other content available through the Service is provided for informational and directory purposes only.

You assume full and sole responsibility for any decision you make based on information found on StoatBoard, including but not limited to decisions about joining, interacting with, or trusting any listed server, bot, publisher, or operator. StoatBoard shall not be liable for harm, loss, or damage resulting from reliance on such information, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. User-Generated Content Disclaimer

The Service contains content submitted by users, including server and bot descriptions, tags, icons, reviews, links, and other metadata. All such content represents the views and information of the individual users who submitted it, and not those of StoatBoard.

StoatBoard does not verify the accuracy, completeness, or truthfulness of any user-submitted content. We expressly disclaim all responsibility for any inaccurate, misleading, offensive, or otherwise problematic content submitted by users. Reliance on any user-submitted content is at your own risk.

17. Monitoring Rights

StoatBoard reserves the right, but assumes no obligation, to monitor activity on the Service for the purposes of security, compliance with these Terms, and enforcement of our Content Policy. The absence of active monitoring shall not create any liability on our part for content that we have not reviewed or discovered.

We are under no obligation to act on every report we receive, and our decision to act or not act on a report shall not be construed as an endorsement or approval of the reported content.

18. No Data Backup Guarantee

StoatBoard does not guarantee the preservation, backup, or recovery of any data you submit to the Service, including server or bot listings, account information, or any other content. You are solely responsible for maintaining your own copies of any information you consider important. In the event of data loss, StoatBoard shall bear no liability whatsoever.

19. Statute of Limitations

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to your use of the Service or these Terms must be filed within one (1) year after the event giving rise to such claim. Claims not filed within this contractual limitation period shall be forever barred, regardless of any statutory limitation period that might otherwise apply.

20. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will endeavour to notify registered users by email at least 15 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

21. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with French law, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of France.

If you are a consumer, mandatory legal protections granted by the laws of your country of residence remain applicable to the extent they cannot be contractually waived.

22. General Provisions

22.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Content Policy, and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StoatBoardregarding the use of the Service, and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, or representations.

22.2 No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms at any time shall not be considered a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be explicit and in writing.

22.3 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

22.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may freely assign our rights and obligations, for example in the case of a transfer of ownership of the Service.

23. Virtual Currency (Pulse)

StoatBoard offers a virtual currency called "Pulse" (represented by the ⚡ symbol) that can be used to purchase premium visibility features such as Pulse+ server boosts.

Pulse purchases are processed through third-party payment methods (including Ko-fi-style support flows) and are used to finance infrastructure, operations, and product development.

  • No real-money value. Pulse has no monetary value outside StoatBoard. It cannot be exchanged for cash, gift cards, or any form of real-world currency.
  • Final sale / no refund. All Pulse purchases are final and non-refundable. By completing a payment, you expressly waive any right to cancellation, withdrawal, or reimbursement for delivered Pulse and related visibility features, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
  • No expiration. Purchased Pulse do not expire and remain on your account until used.
  • Non-transferable. Pulse are bound to your account and cannot be gifted, traded, or transferred to another user.
  • Administrative adjustments. We reserve the right to credit or debit Pulse from your account for legitimate reasons, including corrections, promotions, compensation for service issues, or enforcement of these Terms. All administrative adjustments are logged.
  • Account termination. If your account is terminated for any reason, all remaining Pulse are forfeited.
  • Auto-renewal. If you enable auto-renewal for a server boost, Pulse will be automatically deducted from your balance when the boost is about to expire. You can disable auto-renewal at any time from your Dashboard. If your balance is insufficient, auto-renewal will be disabled automatically.
  • Chargebacks and abuse. Fraudulent disputes, unjustified chargebacks, or payment abuse may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, forfeiture of Pulse balance, cancellation of active boosts, and recovery action for associated costs.

If your payment provider reports a technical failure (for example, duplicate debit or non-delivery of purchased Pulse), we may apply a corrective adjustment at our sole discretion.
